Venture and seed investments are investments in companies that are either about to start or are in the startup phase. What these investments have in common is that they are typically associated with high risk and significant growth potential.

These investments are typically made because companies require external capital to grow. Therefore, the investments are usually made on special terms, which are often very specific to the particular investment.

For example, the investment may be conditional on the company using the capital for certain purposes or paid out when specific goals are achieved. It may also be that the investor requires shares in the company, which are granted special rights (preference shares).
